Who:
This initiative was inaugurated by Secretary of Higher Education, Shri Sanjay Murthy, and AICTE Chairman, Shri T. G. Sitharam.
Why:
The National Award to Teachers 2024 in Higher Education Institutions aims to celebrate the exceptional contributions of distinguished faculty members across the country. This award honour's their dedication and hard work, particularly in teaching and pedagogy, which have significantly enhanced the quality of higher education and enriched their students' lives. It seeks to recognize and applaud the innovative and ground breaking achievements of these educators in teaching-learning, community outreach, institutional service, research, and novel work in higher education.
About the Awards:
National Awards to Teachers (Higher Education) 2024
The awards aim to recognize and honour exemplary teachers from technical and non-technical higher education institutions, including polytechnic institutions. The awards will be categorized based on the following disciplines:
Engineering & Technology, Architecture
Pure Sciences, including Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy
Arts and Social Sciences, Humanities, Languages, Legal Studies, Commerce, and Management
When:
Last Date for Nominations: 20th June 2024
Award Ceremony: 5th September 2024 (Teachers’ Day)
Who can take:
Regular faculty members of colleges/universities/higher educational institutions/polytechnics in India.
At least five years of full-time teaching experience at the undergraduate or postgraduate level.
Must be below 55 years of age as of the last date of application.
Vice-Chancellors/Directors/Principals are not eligible. However, those who have previously held such positions and are still in active service below the age limit can apply.
How to enter:
Self-nomination.
Nominations by former or current Vice-Chancellor/Director/Principal/Faculty Member/Colleague from the same institution.
Previous nominees are eligible for re-nomination.
